4 Ways To Make Money On The Internet From Home

If a friend asked you how to make money on the internet from home, I’ll bet you would be able to instantly name at least one method. That’s because so many of us now regularly make purchases on the internet. According to an article in Fortune, an eCommerce blog, “online retail sales in the U.S. will increase 11.98% this year compared with 2010, to $197.3 billion from $176.2 billion.” (See the source tor this information below.)

Therefore, it is no surprise that you may be thinking about ways you, too, can make money on the internet from home. If you are new to internet marketing in general, here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling.

1) Become an independent dealer for a manufacturer who will drop ship the item for you.

By “drop ship,” we mean that you do not actually carry the product at your physical location. Rather, you take the sale and payment, and then pass the order along to the manufacturer or dealer. They, in turn ship the product to your customer.

While you do not have to physically keep the goods on hand yourself, the drawbacks to drop shipping include the fact that the company – not you – is responsible for shipping the item. This can sometimes cause a problem when you are not informed as to whether or not the item is out of stock. This has happened to me, and it isn’t ever fun to tell your customer that, “Oops! I didn’t know that the item was not in stock.”

2) Purchase goods in bulk at wholesale prices, and then sell and ship them directly from your own location.

This particular way to make money on the internet from home has the major advantage of you being in charge of the entire transaction from beginning to end.

You have ultimate control over when and how the item gets shipped. The major drawbacks to this are that you have to pay your initial upfront costs to purchase the items outright, and then you have to warehouse them while you wait to sell them.

3) Buy goods at auctions, yard sales, and estate sales, and then re-sell them on eBay, Craigslist, or through a consignment store.

Having been part of this type of business since 1994, I can attest that this can be a lot of fun! But, as anyone who has been selling on eBay recently can tell you, the market is fickle, and it changes rapidly. What was selling great 3 months ago on eBay may not be getting so much as a nibble today.

Of course, there are seasonal trends and strategies to keep in mind, but unless you are either selling many items each week online or happen upon some amazing rare item, it may be difficult to earn enough money to pay the rent this way.

4) Take a step by step affiliate marketing course and learn how to make money on the internet from home making affiliate marketing sales.

Affiliate marketing is, in a nutshell, where you promote a product link on behalf of someone else through one of the many affiliate networks available online today (for example: Amazon, ClickBank, Commission Junction, LinkShare, etc). If the customer makes a purchase, you receive a commission.

If you decide to explore affiliate marketing sales, you will need to have a place to talk about the products you market (such as a blog, which is free, or a simple website), but the actual sale is made by the vendor selling the product.

For example, if you decide you really like “Product ABC” and want to offer it to others, you might talk about “Product ABC” on your blog. You would have a special link to share with your readers, telling them where they can get “Product ABC.”

The link to “Product ABC” would be specially coded with your identity so that the vendor who is actually selling “Product ABC” knows who gets the credit for the sale (which would be you). When the customer purchases through your special link, you earn a commission.

Affiliate marketing is not a complicated concept, and can be a lot of fun. The drawback is that (as with anything else where someone begins working to make money on the internet from home) there is a bit of a learning curve.

But, as many affiliate marketing professionals will attest, it is well worth the effort, because you do not have to create the product, you do not have to sell the product (you only have to guide customers to the product website, which does the selling for you), and you do not have to actually deliver the product.

So, whether you are a beginner or seasoned marketing professional, these ideas will give you something to think about!
